Aminreza Koohestani a graduate of McGill University and the University of Toronto, has dedicated over a decade to assisting refugee and migrant survivors of violence and exploitation at the UN Refugee Agency since 2012. He has had the privilege of helping numerous refugees attain legal status while advocating for their rights in the country of asylum.
Throughout his UN career, Amin provided training in international refugee law to local lawyers, judges, and border guards, including his work in Ukraine’s refugee situation in eastern Europe in 2022. His professional focus and published work revolve around refugees, human rights, and gender issues. Amin is fluent in both English and Farsi/Persian.
In August 2023, Amin joined our firm, where he continues to assist refugee claimants in Canada from a range of countries in Central and South America, Africa, and the Middle East.
