Biography

Gabriel Melo Viana joined Lewis & Associates LLP as an articling student on April 2023. He recently completed his Masters of Law (LLM) in Canadian Common Law at Osgoode Hall Law School. Before joining the firm, Gabriel worked as a Registered Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC), gaining expertise in different areas of immigration and refugee law.

Originally from Brazil, Gabriel obtained his L.LB degree from the Catholic University of Salvador, in the state of Bahia, and his Masters of Sciences in Law at the University of Sao Paulo. He worked as a lawyer in Brazil for more than six years before coming to Canada. During that time, Gabriel taught in different law schools and worked on projects involving law students and the community.

Gabriel is passionate about social justice and loves to help, assist, and create social change, so he decided to work with immigration and refugee law. He believes this field allows him to better contribute to the society.

He is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and he enjoys traveling to unexplored, different, and unusual places, learning new things, and spending time with his family and friends when he’s not working. His interests include global politics, history, aviation, and urban planning.
