Gökhan Toy joined Lewis and Associates LLP as an articling student in August 2020. He earned his LLM degree in Canadian Common Law from the University of Toronto with high distinction and was called to the Bar in Ontario in April 2021.

Before his legal career in Canada, Gökhan served as a legal counsel and a career diplomat for six years at the Turkish Foreign Ministry. He worked at the Turkish Consulate General in Toronto as a vice consul from 2014 to 2016. 

Gökhan practices in all areas of Canadian Immigration Law. He assists immigrants and refugees with various aspects of immigration law, such as refugee claim applications, temporary and permanent residence applications (H&C Applications, family sponsorships, etc.), deferral requests and stay motion applications, and appeals of immigration and refugee applications. Gökhan regularly appears before the Federal Court and the Immigration and Refugee Board and represents his clients successfully. 

Aside from his professional career, Gökhan is a Board Member at the Institute for Diplomacy and Economy (instituDE), a platform established by a group of former Turkish diplomats advocating for human rights and restoring democracy in Turkey.
