Marcela Ferro graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Bachelor of Arts. While completing her undergraduate degree here, Marcela volunteered with the Mennonite Coalition where she transcribed and translated refugee narratives.
Upon finishing her undergraduate degree, Marcela was accepted into a two-year accelerated graduate LLB Law degree at the University of Exeter in England. Upon returning to Canada, she started working in the area of Intellectual Property. She articled at Borden Ladner Gervais in Toronto with a focus on Trademark Law. She was called to the Bar in October 2023.
In January 2024, Marcela joined Lewis & Associates LLP as an associate in the Refugee Law practice area. Marcela loves to assist clients from all parts of the world and especially Spanish-speaking applicants, thereby making the process easier for them having a lawyer who not only can communicate with them in their native language but is also knowledgeable of their culture. Marcela proudly makes herself accessible to clients, so they feel supported and cared for in their refugee process.
In her spare time, Marcela enjoys playing tennis, going for runs by the lakeshore waterfront with her two dogs, and traveling.
