Talar Chit Jian obtained her bachelor’s degree in law from her alma mater: University of Aleppo/Syri. Talar practiced law under her belt in Aleppo for more than four years. Talar fled the war-town country, Syria to Lebanon. She decided to relocate to Canada, where safety would never be a cause of concern for her.
During her stay in Lebanon, Talar pursued her “Certificate in Human Rights Global and Local Protection” from the University of Padova, Italy. Talar obtained the “master’s degree in Canadian Common Law” from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University.
In 2020, Talar obtained the “Certificate of Qualification” from The Federation of Law Societies of Canada, The National Committee on Accreditation. Thereafter, Talar obtained the “LexCanLearn Legal Research Certification ” issued by LexisNexis Canada and became a certified legal researcher as a result.
Talar completed the Licensing Process after she passed the Law Society of Ontario’s both Licensing Examinations and completed the Experiential Training component. She called to the Ontario Bar in 2022.
After obtaining her License, Talar worked as an Associate Lawyer at an established refugee law firm, where she obtained extensive knowledge in Refugee law and has successfully represented most of the clients before the Refugee Protection Division, Refugee Appeal Division, and the Federal Court of Canada.
Talar joined Lewis and Associates LLP in June 2023 and is passionate to serve all her clients in the areas of Refugee Law and Immigration Law in a timely fashion. Talar enjoys volunteering, public speaking, and obtaining leadership positions, and serving the public.
As a 2019/2020 PBSC Osgoode Chapter’s student, Talar volunteered in an immigration law firm. She also volunteered in Law in Action Within Schools, University of Toronto/York University. In her free time, Talar enjoys practicing yoga, reading, and traveling to explore new cultures. She is a poly-lingual person. She is fluent in Armenian, English, Arabic, and Turkish.
