Tarik Saglam joined Lewis & Associates LLP as an articling student after graduating from the University of Ottawa with a Juris Doctor degree and he was called to the bar in June 2026. As a multilingual person who grew up in different countries, he has particular interest and experience in different areas of immigration and refugee law.
Tarik’s academic career extends from China to Canada, and he also holds a master’s degree in international relations. During his studies in Ottawa, he also completed an exchange program at Lund University in Sweden. All these experiences allowed him to broaden his perspective and develop a better understanding of different legal systems.
Before joining the firm, he was accredited as an interpreter by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada and provided his services to the IRB. Since joining the firm, he has practiced in different areas of refugee law, including Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) applications, appeals before the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD), and judicial review applications before the Federal Court. Tarik also has experience in immigration law, handling a wide range of matters including various visa applications, permanent residence applications and other immigration matters.
In addition to English, Tarik can speak Turkish, Chinese (Mandarin) and is improving his Russian skills. Aside from work, Tarik enjoys spending time with his loved ones and traveling whenever he can.
