Yailin Alonso Mederos joined Lewis & Associates LLP as an articling student in July 2022. She was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2024 and currently practices as an associate lawyer at the firm. Before commencing her legal career in Canada, Yailin served as a judge in Cuba for approximately nine years, adjudicating civil, administrative, and family law matters. This judicial experience provided her with a profound understanding of intricate case management.
Yailin’s empathy, commitment, and passion for social justice have driven her to specialize in immigration and refugee law. At Lewis & Associates LLP, Yailin has worked on a diverse range of immigration and refugee cases before the Refugee Protection Division, the Refugee Appeal Division, the Federal Court, and the Immigration Division.
She has successfully assisted clients through the complexities of the immigration process, and her fluency in Spanish enables her to effectively represent and support the Hispanic community.
Outside of work, Yailin enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Timo.
